Our 15th stop: The Anna Mae Bacon Bird Sanctuary

Did you know this hidden gem trail was located in the village of Hamburg?

The Anna Mae Bacon Bird Sanctuary is just off the Spot Coffee round about in the village and is a scenic sanctuary to observe wildlife and take a break from the hustle and bustle.

Anna Mae Bacon was a botanist and Hamburg High School science teacher. She and her husband John owned part of the property on which the Bird Sanctuary currently sits. Anna Mae Bacon was known as the “Bird Lady of Hamburg”, rehabilitating injured birds and planting plant species designed to attract birds.
